10 GAMES IDEAS DURING A CAR RIDE

Going on a ride with a special company creates a special moment. Here are some fun pastime ideas to chase boredom when on the road, with friends or family.

Here are some game ideas to avoid anxiety during a trip. If you are traveling with family, everyone can take part in these games. No need for any devices. These games do not have an age limit.

1) License plate game:

While on the road, you will pass by many types of cars. Each car has a license plate, composed with letters and numbers. The game consists of finding a word from the first letter of each license plate. Choosing a theme such as animals, cities, actor's name, or many others will also make it more fun. Or simply form a word with the letters, for instance LMN = Lemonade or PTP = Participate.

2) The song game:

Each person will take turns humming a song and everyone else will have to guess the song. To make it more challenging, you can point out the name of the singer. What's more, someone will sing part of a song, and everyone else  has to sing the remaining part of the song or the missing part. There is another variant of this game, one person has to tell the name of a singer or a band and the other passengers have to sing a song of the band or the singer. Someone also can tell the title of a song and its singer and the rest of the passengers have to sing the right lyrics.

3) The intruder game:

This game consists of suggesting a series of five words, one of which is an intruder. The fastest one to guess the odd one gets one point, and everyone takes turns to play. For instance, four car brands and one odd brand, or four Quebecois cities and one international city, or four types of vehicles and one odd one, or many others according to your imaginations.

4) Logic game:

This game is also based on speed. The game is about quickly finding a word related to the latest word heard. This is how it works: the first player says a word, the second repeats it and adds a word that comes to his mind when thinking about the first word, and so on. If a player repeats a word that had already been said, he is out. The game restarts. For example: bikini, beach, sea, fish, and so on. This game goes very quickly and can lasts for hours. This game is also very fun for a team or group, when on a ride, as a team building exercise.

5) Stars game:

A passenger tells a name. Each passenger then takes turns to name a celebrity who has the same first name. For instance, with Justin: Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, etc. those who cannot keep up are out. The rest of the players can continue with another name, until only one lasts, the winner.

6) Riddle:

Guess what I am thinking? A player has to think about a word and then spell the first and last letters. He also has to give a clue about the nature of the word. For instance: it begins with C, and ends with T, it is a vegetable. The one who guesses the right answer wins and gives the next riddle. Did you know the answer was carrot? This game is fun and is a great pastime.

7) Rhymes:

A passenger will say a word and everyone else will have to find a word that rhymes with it. Each passenger will take turns to say a word. For example: car, bar, star, bizarre etc. Those who cannot find a word that rhymes with the said word are out, and the game will be restarted. Those games are slightly noisy. After a while, everyone will be tired and want to take a rest. The driver, or the ship's captain during a game, may be distracted by all the noise. This means it is time to play the game n°8.

8) The silence game:

It is about silence and peace. It is a very practical game to find tranquility again. This game consists in staying silent for a specific time, and the first one to say something loses. All passengers will stay silent while the radio plays, for the rest of the ride. This peaceful moment will be a good way for the passengers to be excited to arrive at their destination.

Those games are fun and educational as well. Everyone can take part in those, even the driver. Boredom will be chased away with those. However, while waiting to buy your own car, you can already try these at home.
