What are the criteria for choosing the perfect car?

The automobile market offers a wide range of choices according to your criteria and budget. It is best to know your budget well before purchasing.

Either it is a new car or used one, your choice must be based on the final use of your car, on its size, and its motorization according to future trips.

1/ Type of vehicles:

The type of vehicle should be based on your needs and your kind of trips ( in the city or in rural areas). Everyone has their preference when it comes to buying a car, whether a couple or single, a family, an employee or a contractor, etc.

For a family: a monospace or a break(berline) or a SUV or better yet a minivan will fit you best.

✓ Monospace (or people carrier): has a wide space at the back and in the trunk. Usually with 5 to 7 seats, it is perfect for family outings, holidays and other trips or leisure. It offers considerable comfort for passengers.

Berline ( sedan) or Break (estate car): amazing for family but also for professional use. Usually, these cars have 5 seats, meaning fewer seats than a people carrier. However, they are more pleasant to drive.

Break or estate car can be used for familial as well as professional use. This type of vehicle has a wide space providing an utilitarian vocation. With a trunk reachable from the car interior and foldable rear seats, which are very practical when carrying luggages and goods.

Those cars are fit for journeys or long trips.

The SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), an off-road car is also a trend for family. With its exceptional design, easy road handling and comfort, it appeals and fits everyone.

There are also other types of vehicles used for city trips only. To be more precise, it's about compact sedan and city run cars, despite being smaller they are more versatile with 2 or 5 seats. Compact sedan and city run cars are small cars easy to find a parking place and are more fuel efficient. They are convenient for short city trips as well as long journeys.

For singles or couples: a convertible is the best fit.

It's a two-seater car, usually with a convertible top and a small trunk. It's meant to be driven while feeling the wind in your hair.

for employees: if you drive on rough roads, you may want to go for a 4x4 off-road car. It's a four wheel drive vehicle  and can drive even through almost inaccessible routes. Its variant is the pickup. It's also extremely powerful, without side walls. Although this type of car can go on any kind of road it burns more fuel than light duty vehicles.

2) The motorization :

You now have a general idea of what kind of vehicles you should choose. But what type of driver are you? Do you often drive into town? Do you go for a long or a short daily ride? Are you more economical or rather ecological?

Motorization is going to be an important point in order to choose the right car. A diesel, gasoline, an electric car or an hybrid model or even variants of hybrids.

 ● If you often travel long distances, you should go for a diesel.

A diesel car burns around 15% to 20% less fuel than a gasoline engine. Moreover, the price at the pump is slightly cheaper than gasoline. If you drive for more than 20 000km per year, it's more convenient to use diesel cars. However, a diesel engine is noisier than a gasoline engine. The purchase and maintenance cost of a diesel engine is more expensive than a petrol engine.

● If you drive into town or travel short distances, you should get a gasoline engine car.

In town, a gasoline engine car burns less fuel by its system. But the consumption will be higher once the speed is over 80km/h. For short distances, a gasoline or petrol engine is strongly recommended. It emits less noise. Additionally, the cost of purchase and maintenance is significantly less expensive than that of a diesel car.

● If you support ecology and you often go into town, you should opt for an electric or hybrid (electric-thermic engine).

Electric cars  are non polluting and do not emit CO2. They have grown in popularity. They are economical and not noisy. They require only little maintenance. However, they need a charging station to recharge for a fairly long time. Even though, during braking, they automatically recharge. That is why electric cars are advantageous for city streets. Electric cars are nonetheless expensive on the market.

Hybrid cars are both electric and gasoline powered. When traveling at low speed, they consume electricity only. At high speed electric cars consume gasoline and recharge themselves at the same time. Those cars are economical as well as ecological and less noisier than gasoline. Regardless of the advantages, the purchase cost is still high. Those with a low budget should watch out.

Liked my experience. What I liked the most was Brigitte's availability even after the contracts were signed and the sale concluded. It came back to me quickly and the final details were settled within the agreed deadlines.
